WRITING IN PRACTICE
Writing can shift students from passive receivers of information into active discoverers of knowledge, where they not only report what they've learned but also learn through the process of writing itself.
Writing is a powerful tool for students to express their ideas and understanding, serving not only as a means of communication but also as a process of discovery that deepens their knowledge and helps them make connections between concepts. The following are two examples of Voyager courses with a focus on the writing process.
Truth Seekers: The Art of Discovery - Middle & High School
Students choose a topic of personal interest, then discover deeper truths about complex issues through a dual process of investigative research and persuasive storytelling. In this process, the act of convincing others actually sharpens their own understanding while crafting narratives that compel readers to care about and act on their findings.
The Detective's Notebook - Elementary School
In this course, students solve mysteries about topics they care about by gathering clues, interviewing witnesses, and building their case. Just like real detectives, they'll discover new information through investigation, then convince others of what they've learned by writing detective reports and presenting their findings. Every great detective begins with curiosity and ends with a story that changes the way people think.
